OMI: with rappers Melo Kan and Bone Intell

Melo’s grind is a result of pure dedication and shear will at times. With no assistance from managers or investors, Melo continues to come up with innovative ways to push his music and brand to the public. He is currently working tirelessly on his next album The Heart of the City, which is being produced solely and entirely by industry renowned THX. Melo says “I feel like this album is going to take me where I need to be. Not only is it some of my best material, but the level of musicianship going into this project will definitely leave the listener with a feeling of satisfaction.” With all of Melo’s accomplishments, and intentions, the question still remains; are people really ready for an artist like Melo? Do people really want music that speaks to them directly and touches them emotionally? Well there is only one sure fire way to find out. www.melokan.com
Bringing "The End of The Rainbow" to OMI, friend of the show, Bone Intell is set to put hip-hop on edge. His previous appearance on OMI came with the major announcements of him being signed to a UK music label and the release of multiple projects. Is this the first of many? Tune into the show to find out. www.boneintell.com

OMI: with Lady L.U.S.T. and Swanny River

Outhiphop.com’s 2010 Readers Poll Producer of the Year Swanny River and Las Vegas two time best emcee award winning rapper Lady L.U.S.T. were special guests on OUTing The Music Industry with Dj SirRah this week. Swanny premiered some new tracks from his debut mixtape “It Is What It Is When The Beat Drops” due out “the 2nd week of May.” Showcasing members of the SR Music Group, Kleva B & Flash The Ken Doll (Code R-E-D), Splash-T, Durrty Hanna, and Quentin Adams along with fellow rappers Kaoz, Verbal Science, and Tim’m West. Swanny and SirRah also spoke about the recent interview that DJ Baker (Da Doo Dirty Show, Late Night with DJ Baker)did with straight rapper Skee-Lo (“I wish”) on homphobia in hip-hop. Lady L.U.S.T., who recently released her “God, Fear, & Money” mixtape on her birthday, eagerly spoke of her inspiration from Meshell Ndegecello and how we all are motivated by either God, fear, or money. Why did she stop performing and collaborating for free? Why a mixtape and not an album? Is she pigeon-holed as a “conscience” rapper? And when can we see L.U.S.T. live? All these questions and more are answered on OMI #TeamAries “Birthday Show,” as it’s being called; SirRah, Swanny, and L.U.S.T. all celebrated birthdays. You can listen/download the show here:
